Section 1. A Description of College Council
The College Council is the student government at Williams. Since its inception, the Council has worked diligently as the campus-wide student representative body to represent all student interests and bring about positive change to our beloved community. This rich history of student activism and engagement is what allows Williams students, through the Council, to remain deeply entrenched in dialogue surrounding campus issues, to improve the campus through student-led initiatives, to create a vibrant community comprised of student organizations representing the many different interests on campus, and to look critically at Williams for a sole purpose: to improve the campus for everyone. The College Council also manages the Student Activities Tax and oversees the allocation of over $400k to fund campus wide entertainment, student organizations, lectures, and whatever else comes to mind to any student on campus!
College Council meets every Wednesday from 7-9pm in Hopkins Hall 001. As always, meetings are open to all students, and we encourage everyone to attend. As a student at Williams, YOU can run to be on CC!
Section 2. A Detailed Overview of all Positions
2014 Class Representatives (4): Class Representatives for the Class of 2014 shall represent the interests of the Senior Class and the student body at-large, keep their constituents informed of Council proceedings, and serve and actively contribute on at least one committee.
2015 Class Representatives (4): Class Representatives for the Class of 2015 shall represent the interests of the Junior Class and the student body at-large, keep their constituents informed of Council proceedings, and serve and actively contribute on at least one committee.
2016 Class Representatives (4): Class Representatives for the Class of 2016 shall represent the interests of the Sophomore Class, keep their constituents informed of Council proceedings, and serve and actively contribute on at least one committee.
Assistant Treasurer: The Assistant Treasurer assists the Treasurer in maintaining Council’s books. The Assistant Treasurer is a member of Finance Committee, and performs such duties as the Treasurer, Executive Committee, or Co-Presidents may assign.
Sage Hall Representative: This first-year representative advocates issues pertinent to the residents of Sage, keeps his or her constituents informed of Council proceedings, and actively serves the student body on at least one committee.
Williams Hall Representative: This first-year representative advocates issues pertinent to the residents of Willy, keeps his or her constituents informed of Council proceedings, and actively serves the student body on at least one committee.
Mills-Dennett Representative: This first-year representative advocates issues pertinent to the residents of Mills and Dennett, keeps his or her constituents informed of Council proceedings, and actively serves the student body on at least one committee.
Armstrong-Pratt Representative: This first-year representative advocates issues pertinent to the residents of Armstrong and Pratt, keeps his or her constituents informed of Council proceedings, and actively serves the student body on at least one committee.
Section 3. Honor Committee Elections
You may also run to serve as a representative on the Honor and Discipline Committee. The Honor Committee is composed of eight students–two per class year–eight faculty members, and the Dean of the College and oversee all cases that violate the College’s rules of student conduct (academic and disciplinary). This committee is responsible for determining the guilt or innocence of the accused person or persons, and for recommending appropriate punishments to the Dean. There are two positions available for the Class of 2015, 2016, and 2017. All students must be in good standing with the College to run.

Section 4. Elections Timeline
Sep 11: Honor Committee Information Session (7pm, Second floor of Paresky)
Sep 14: General College Council Information Session (Student Activities Resource Center @ Second floor of Paresky, 4pm)
Sep 16: Deadline to submit self-nominations for College Council and Honor Committee positions.
Sep 17: Self-nominations distributed to the student body
Sep 18: Meet the Candidates (all-campus, Baxter Hall, Time 7-8pm)
Sep 19: Voting Begins at 4pm (ballot will be sent via email)
Sep 21: Voting Closes at 4pm and results will be submitted to student body soon thereafter
Sep 22: Mandatory College Council Retreat for ALL Members
Sep 26: First Council meeting for the Fall 2013 term!
